Weight Loss Thoughts

When my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the rock that is higher than I. — Psalm 61:2

Weight loss is a fascinating topic to me, and I am far from being the first to write about it! Even though I am doing all of the recommended things like getting quality sleep, eating and drinking healthy, exercising vigorously, setting realistic goals, recruiting accountability partners, and finding ways to incorporate movement every single day. But the number on the scale takes so long to budge, and many times the process is ever so slow. I am doing my best to not let it be discouraging and frustrating, but I do to wonder to myself, why is my weight loss journey such a struggle?

I have come to learn in my readings and own life experience that losing weight loss is far more complicated than just diet and exercise, though they both are critical. For example, it also depends on your age, sex and how much weight you are needing to lose says obesity expert Matthew Weiner, MD, the director of bariatric surgery and the medical director of telemedicine at Tucson Medical Center. As a woman aged 55 and currently weighing 215 pounds, I can attest to these phenomena all too well!

There are many other reasons why someone may experience slow to stalled weight loss. The struggle truly is real, but there are many expert opinions on how to overcome these plateaus. The main take away is that weight loss is a long-term process, you must focus on the present plan at hand, and for someone committed to the journey, weight loss success is possible!

So don’t be overwhelmed! Stay the course!
