Why No Offense Should Be Found in the Word “Hustle.”

Scrolling through my Facebook feed yesterday, I came across the above image and statement, and it really struck a chord with me. In full honestly, it struck a nerve!
How do I approach hustling and alignment in the world of fitness, which at the end of the day, is a life approach? Fitness is truly a life endeavor, and those around me will hear me say that often!
I shun the idea of striking out the word “hustle?” Where is the fear in hustle? It is the only reason we’d want to “destroy the idea.” We find little to no pleasure in hustling, so replace the idea with something a little more touchy-feely; something a little safer, and let’s call it alignment. Bogus!
To attain success and / or ultimate happiness is synonymous with stretching oneself. It is to “reach for the stars.” Complacency and passive pursuit are not found there!

This is not to say that I don’t find value in “rest, recovery, and reflection.” I do! It is a critical component of a fitness program, and life ambition in general. But to propose that alignment is anything less than hustle is to be disceptive. In my opinion, alignment is a laser like focus on the goals you are trying to reach. Hustle resides there too, and it is not to be feared and negated.
So, whether you choose to hustle or whether you choose to align, you are choosing wisely. The only difference is the emotion you choose to associate with one word and not the other. If it makes you feel better to align, go do so. Success awaits you! I’ll be hustling in the meantime…
