“Now faith is the full assurance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Hebrews 11:1 As a child, born and raised in Zimbabwe, and until the day I graduated from school at the age of 17, the Catholic nuns in a Dominican Convent were my teachers. I was raised in an Anglican church, yet God was never really discussed in my home. As an adult attending universities in America, I hardly went to church and it wasn’t until I had my daughter that church became important to me again. Yet, it wasn’t until I was in my late 20’s that I found myself yearning to know the Lord in an intimate way. Today, I am on fire for Christ and my faith is an integral part of all I do, including my fitness ambitions! I believe with searing certainty that we are to embody a life of health and fitness. Our bodies are to be revered for the immense gift that they are. We are to honor all that we are physically able to do, and should find joy and purpose in taking care of ourselves. To do anything less is truly a slight to the Creator who fashioned us with loving care! My faith is rock-solid strong. I believe in the immense potential I have to accomplish all I set out to do. Struggles and obstacles may show up, but my trust in the Divine will see me though any dark and daunting times. The bottom line is that faith is a powerful treasure. It provides hope, purpose, courage, strength, inspiration, and so much more. It is the key – found in God – to living our very best lives!
“Faith and prayer are the vitamins of the soul; man cannot live in health without them.” – Mahalia Jackson
