Patience is Indeed a Virtue When It Comes to Weight Loss

I step on the scale everyday, sometimes evening and morning – fascinated by how my body responds to sleep, nutrition and exercise. For someone who has a goal of having single digit body fat levels, I am so eager to see the number on the scale decline. When this happens, I am all smiles. It puts pep in my step. It spurs me on!
Yet, I fight disappointment when I don’t see the weight loss results I am so passionately after. I want all the hard work I am doing in the kitchen and in the gym to be immediately reflected back to me with lower numbers on the scale. This attitude is a recipe for disaster!
Intuitively, I know that fitness is a lifestyle. Elite fitness doesn’t happen overnight, as the body is a machine that takes time to adjust to the daily variables we expose it to.
Patience is indeed a virtue! The weight loss results will come. The hard work will pay off. A long term commitment will produce the magic, and all too soon I’ll have the body of my dreams!
