The Purpose That God Has Placed in My Heart

What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? – Romans 8:31

I want so much for my life! I have such lofty goals, and at the age of 55, I still believe that the Lord has so much in store for me. I feel such a prompting that the best is yet to come! I have accomplished some stellar things in my life; my biggest accomplishment by far was raising my daughter into the successful young lady that she is. Her name is Lauren, and what a gift she is! I would be remiss if I did not give her father most of the credit, for we divorced when Lauren was 7. But I have always had important input into her life, and I cherish the close relationship we have forged over the years. Coming to America from Zimbabwe as a teenager was a huge accomplishment as well. I made the journey all by myself to attend University on a tennis scholarship, and when I finished my sporting career, I went to graduate school for an advanced degree in exercise and sports science. As a career woman, I successfully climbed the ladder no matter the job responsibility, and in 2015 I started a sports and fitness coaching business, calling it Arlene Peters Enterprises. Covid and health concerns would slow my business to a screeching holt, but to this day I still yearn to turn that business into a thriving global fitness enterprise. I am currently studying for certifications in fitness coaching and nutrition to bolster my resume, praying every day for the Lord to open the right doors. But let me take you back to an earlier part of my life. In early 2000, I developed a mental condition called schizoaffective disorder whereby I would hear horrible demeaning voices in my head. Mental institutions were a frequent occurrence, my last episode being in 2019. Depression and a binge eating disorder would rule my life for many years, culminating in a prescription drug suicide attempt.

Life is a gift, and it offers us the privilege, opportunity, and responsibility to give something back by becoming more. – Tony Robbins But today, I can report that my mental health is the strongest it has ever been. The voices that I once ruled my mental space are all but gone, and hospital stays and huge doses of prescription drugs to treat the condition are a thing of the past. The Lord has worked miracles in my life, and my ambition to live out my purpose of being a global fitness expert is stronger than ever! I work every day on my fitness, for I have massive athletic potential. I want to epitomize fitness is all I do, shining the light that God has placed in my heart. To touch lives in a positive and uplifting way as I share my journey is a daily goal! May I be the example of someone who has overcome debilitating struggles is a frequent prayer! Let my life be a testimony of how God can move. He is a mighty healer and faithful Father! Just imagine what God can do in your life if you will just let Him in…
